Chemical Peels

These are customized procedures tailored to your skin care needs and lifestyle. During a chemical peel, our aestheticians apply a solution to your skin that promotes the skin to exfoliate. The solution may have ingredients that help with acne, scarring, discoloration, and skin texture. These ingredients also vary based on penetration in the skin. A chemical peel can be a very light procedure that causes minimal to no peeling. These light peels promote the most superficial layers of the skin to gently exfoliate promoting a brighter, more glowing appearance. These light peels are frequently used for treatment and prevention of acne and acne discoloration, but they can also be used for a quick “glow up,” to just brighten the complexion. As we age, cellular turnover slows down, and we occasionally need a little help to promote skin rejuvenation. Stronger solutions may also be applied to affect the deeper layers of skin. For stubborn pigmentation and textural issues such as indented scars or deeper wrinkles, a more aggressive peel is necessary to elicit change in the skin. These peels have a more noticeable after-effect on the skin, causing redness, possibly swelling, and significant peeling (usually over 7 days). At UDA, we have a variety of light and medium-depth peels that may be customized to each persons’ unique issues, goals and lifestyle.

VI Peel

The VI Peel is a medical-grade chemical peel line for the treatment of acne and acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, age and sun spots, hyperpigmentation, melasma, rosacea, enlarged pores, oil balancing, and overall skin health.

VI Peel Purify Plus

VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus is our most comprehensive peel for acne and acne scarring.  This advanced solution works synergistically to combat active acne while repairing dark areas on the skin.  This peel addresses excessive oil, acne with hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and adult acne.  It reduces P. Acne bacterial colonization on the skin, blackheads/whiteheads, sebum production, and unclogs congested pores.  Acne scarring and pigmentation fades and healthy cell turnover is promoted to reduce new acne formation.  This is a medium-depth peel that is safe for all skin types.  Results are evident within 7 days.

VI Peel Precision Plus

VI Peel Precision Plus combats pigmentation with our Lighten Booster and fast acting Brightening Booster. This combination suppresses the production of melanin and promotes cell turnover for improved skin tone. This peel addresses UV-induced pigmentation, sun damage, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This is a medium-depth peel that is safe for all skin types. Results are evident within 7 days.

SkinCeuticals

SkinCeuticals is a medical-grade skincare line backed by science. At UDA we utilize their light peels (Glycolic and Salicylic Acid MicroPeel Plus) for our acne patients as maintenance treatments and for anyone who wants a nice glow without downtime. The stronger peels have a mixture of TCA, which penetrates into the deeper layers of skin to improve the look of fine lines, wrinkles and discoloration. Our SkinCeuticals peel menu includes the following options:
  • 20/30% Glycolic MicroPeel
  • 20%/30% Salicylic MicroPeel Plus
  • Advanced Corrective Peel

Customized TCA Peels

TCA (tricholoracetic acid) is a highly regarded peel for treatment of overall skin tone and texture. The procedure can be customized to each individual based on their skin condition and skin type. The lighter concentrations of TCA are very mild and affect the most superficial layers of skin. The stronger formulations penetrate deeper to affect change in the dermal layer of skin, which can promote collagen regeneration. The deeper peels are more aggressive and associated with more downtime. TCA can be applied alone, or it can be combined with other acids for enhanced benefits. These peels are also used to treat precancerous growths of the skin. Many of these actinic keratoses live in the superficial layers of skin and by promoting exfoliation, we improve and eradicate them. At UDA, we offer the following TCA peels:
  • 20% TCA
  • 30% TCA
  • 35% TCA & Jessners

Physician-Grade Skin Care

Pharmaceutical Grade vs Cosmetic Grade Ingredients. Do you understand the difference? Not all skin care products are created equal. And does this even matter?

Pharmaceutical products are regulated as drugs. The ingredients must be pure and undiluted, and the products are tested to ensure purity and strength. These products are prescriptions or only sold at doctor’s offices. Cosmetic-grade products are purchased at the drugstore or department store, and they are not held to the same standard. Cosmetic-grade products may be manufactured with ingredients that are not pure and may contain filler ingredients. No formal testing is required for purity or efficacy.

In our office, we carry skin care lines that hold themselves to pharmaceutical-grade standards. These select skin care manufacturers purchase the same quality of ingredients—pharmaceutical grade—that are used in medicines. The purity and strength of the ingredients and the way the products are formulated all affect the penetration in the skin and the ability for the product to affect change in the skin.

We have several pharmaceutical-grade skin care lines to ensure that we have options for all of our patients’ needs and budgets. Let our skin care specialists curate a personalized regimen for your unique skin profile!
